Oral Facial Pain and Headaches
Oral-facial pain and headaches are two problems that require a thorough examination of your cervical spine, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and muscles related to each of these to determine why you are having pain. Problems such as TMJ disorder, myofascial pain, and cervical spine restrictions can cause headaches, jaw, and or facial pain.
Dry Needling
When dry needling is applied to an affected muscle or trigger point, it can decrease muscle tightness, increase blood flow to the area, and reduce pain. It is considered “dry” because there are no medications or injections involved. There are no activity restrictions after a session due to this conservative approach.
Pain Management
We evaluate and address the root cause of pain using a holistic approach to restore function, reduce reliance on medication, and empower patients with long-term self-management. Treatment typically beings with a comprehensive assessment to identify movement issues, posture imbalances, and joint mechanics. Following this, the Physical Therapist will design a personalized plan that integrates therapeutic exercise to strengthen supporting muscles, manual therapy, such as joint mobilization and myofascial release, dry needling, and pain education.
Pelvic Health
The pelvic floor is the group of muscles surrounding the pelvis, hips, abdomen, and lower back. These muscles work together for a variety of functions. The muscles in the pelvic floor, hips, and abdomen work in coordination to play a crucial role in various bodily functions such as urinary and bowel control, sexual function, and stability of the spine and pelvis.
